Black Women in Sport Foundation Scholarships

The Black Women in Sport Foundation (BWSF) offers four annual scholarships to female students to facilitate and increase the involvement of Black women and girls in athletics, coaching, and administration. The foundation provides funding across four distinct named awards for high school seniors, undergraduates, and graduate students.

Who is eligible

  • Must be a female student enrolled at the time of award receipt
  • The Madeline Kountze Dugger-Kelly Scholarship: Open to African American women enrolled full-time in an accredited graduate program who played a sport in her undergraduate program
  • The Angela Murphy Scholarship: Open to graduating high school female seniors enrolling full-time in an accredited college who participated in high school athletics and community service
  • The Bernice Anastasia Ximines Smith Scholarship: Open to sophomore or junior African American women enrolled in the Temple University School of Communications and Theater
  • The Lewis Danforth, Jr. Scholarship: Open to full-time undergraduate students from and living within the Greater Philadelphia Area
