Cigna Scholarship
The Cigna Scholarship is an annual award sponsored by Cigna and administered by the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis to support college-bound high school graduates from the St. Louis metropolitan area. Two scholarships are awarded each year, one to a male graduate and one to a female graduate, to assist with their college education expenses.

Who is eligible
- Must be a high school senior
- Attends a high school in the St. Louis Metropolitan area
- Current and cumulative High School Grade Point Average of 2.7 or above
- Must be a resident of the St. Louis Metropolitan Area
- Must be a 2024 High School Graduate
- Must not be an immediate family member of an Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis employee or Board of Directors member
What you'll need
- Essay (maximum 500 words): Must be titled 'Stating your college aspirations', typed, double-spaced, and include your name in the upper left corner of each page
- One letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, or community service organization (on official letterhead)
- Official high school transcript verifying GPA
- At least one letter of acceptance from an accredited four-year college or university
- Proof of enrollment at a college or university (verified via class schedule)
- A balance due statement from the financial-aid office
- Student resume
- One (1) wallet-size black and white or color photograph of yourself (head shot; no prom or glamour shots)
How to apply
- Complete the application form, either typed or printed legibly in ink.
- Prepare the 500-word essay, resume, and gather the required supporting documents (transcript, recommendation letter, acceptance letter, and wallet-size photo).
- Assemble the application packet in the following order: Photo/personal information page, application, and supporting documents. Secure with a binder clip.
- Mail or deliver the completed application packet to: Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, Attn: Scholarship Committee, 1408 N. Kingshighway, St. Louis, MO 63114.
- Ensure all materials, including transcripts sent directly from the school, are received by Thursday, April 4, 2024, by 5:00 P.M.
