The Emerson-Hoopes Scholarship supports LGBTQ+ and allied students from the Pacific Northwest who are pursuing a social work degree. Eligible applicants must be attending Seattle University or the University of Washington.

- Resident of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, or Washington for a minimum of three months prior to the application deadline, or lived within the state for at least one out of the five prior years
- Attending the University of Washington (Bothell, Seattle, or Tacoma) or Seattle University
- Undergraduate or graduate student seeking a bachelor's or graduate degree
- Studying social work
- LGBTQIA+ or allied student
- Proven leadership potential in the LGBTQ+ community or field of study
- Lack of a broader LGBTQ+ community support system
- Encountered additional barriers to education, including economic, racial, social, geographical, or being politically disenfranchised
