Fred L. Emerson Foundation International Internship Scholarship (Emerson Scholarships)

The Emerson Scholarship supports Hartwick College students of any major who wish to pursue academic internships in international settings. The program provides grants of up to $7,500 to expand students' post-graduate career options in the global economy.

Who is eligible

  • Must be a student at Hartwick College
  • Must be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Must have financial need
  • Internship must be located outside of the United States
  • Internship must be registered for academic credit through an internship learning agreement

What you'll need

  • Emerson Application Cover Page
  • Essay written in accordance with the Emerson Essay Guidelines
  • Official Letter of Acceptance from the host organization
  • Faculty Recommendation Form submitted by a faculty advisor
  • Budget Worksheet
  • Statement of Financial Need (one- or two-paragraph statement explaining financial benefit in a separate document)
  • Risk Analysis, Mitigation, & Acknowledgement of Risk Form (signed by a parent/guardian if under 21)
  • Updated Resume

How to apply

  • Complete all required application documents and print them out.
  • Attach the printed documents in order to create a physical application packet and submit it to the Center for Global Education.
  • Submit an electronic version of the application packet to globaleducation@hartwick.edu with your name and 'Emerson' in the subject line.
