The Future of STEM Scholars Initiative (FOSSI) Scholarship

The FOSSI scholarship supports high school seniors planning to attend an HBCU to major in STEM-related fields pertinent to the chemical and engineering industries. In addition to receiving financial support of $10,000 per year for up to four years, scholars are connected to leadership development, mentoring, and internship opportunities at sponsoring companies.

Who is eligible

  • Be a citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States
  • Complete or have completed high school with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (unweighted)
  • Be entering freshman year of college
  • Attend an HBCU for the entirety of college education
  • Pursue studies in a pertinent chemical and engineering industry STEM field
  • Have interest in pursuing a career in chemical manufacturing, engineering, environmental health and sustainability, or other related chemical-industry fields
  • Demonstrate financial need

What you'll need

  • Maintain satisfactory academic performance by keeping a 2.5 out of 4.0 GPA annually
  • Maintain enrollment in an approved, full-time course of STEM study at an HBCU
