Who is eligible
- Must be of African-American descent only
- Must be a United States Citizen
- Must be a high school student transitioning to college, or a current freshman or sophomore at one of the partner colleges or universities
- Must have a minimum High School GPA of 2.5
- Must be accepted to attend an accredited Catholic college or university partner listed on the application
- Must be active in high school activities and of good character
What you'll need
- Essay (minimum 600-word typed): "Sister Thea Bowman’s gravestone bears the simple epitaph, “She tried.” What did she try to do? Please expound upon the impact of the life of Sister Thea."
- Official Academic Transcript from high school
- Official Letter of Acceptance from the partner college or university
- Copy of FAFSA SAR (Student Aid Report)
- Statement of Financial Need (typed, double-spaced, not to exceed 300 words)
- Recommendation from either a high school faculty member or high school principal
How to apply
- Complete the online application form available on the provider's website after January 1st.
- Email the remaining application packet documents (transcript, acceptance letter, FAFSA SAR, essay, statement of financial need, recommendation letter) to the foundation no later than March 26th.
