The Donna T. Darrien Memorial Foundation Scholarship
This scholarship supports New Jersey residents living with sickle cell disease, or children of parents with the disease, who are pursuing higher education. Funding is available for students attending or planning to attend an accredited college, university, or technical/vocational school.

Who is eligible
- Must document his/her (or the parent's) sickle cell disease diagnosis
- Must reside in the State of New Jersey
- Must attend, be accepted, or have applied to an accredited university, college, or technical/vocational school
- Must have a GPA of 2.5 or greater on a 4.0 scale
What you'll need
- Sickle cell disease confirmation form
- Most recent official transcript
- Letter of acceptance from the prospective post-secondary school
- Personal written essay (not to exceed 1,000 words): "include how you face your challenges, your educational plans, and your career objectives"
- Two letters of recommendation from non-family members (one must be from a school official, e.g. teacher or guidance counselor)
- Proof of residency (utility bill, driver’s license, or other)
- Clean and appropriate current picture
